My worse education experience takes me back ten years to fifth grade. Mr. Quinn was my weird and out of the ordinary teacher who was famously known for eating chalk. Most people thought he was funny because of his unorthodox way of teach but for a shy fifth grader like myself he wasn’t very funny. Most of the year I would try to avoid talking to him or being called on him in fear of what he would do. Then my worse fear came true after missing a week of school from being sick. When I returned to math class I had missed a lot and had no idea what was going on. The week I spent at home I was receiving work that I was suppose to be doing but I decided my teachers would take it easy on me since I was sick. I couldn’t have been any more wrong. As I sat in my seat hoping not to be called on I was called to the board to do a problem that I had no idea how to do. As I stood at the board sweating with fear Mr. Quinn stood on his desk giving me an earful as I tried to make something up with the whole class laughing. This may not seem like a horrible experience to you but it affected me for the reset of my academic career. Traumatized from this it left my scared to go to the board for the rest of my academic career.
Although I have had many great educational experiences, the one that stands out to me the most is pre-school. Believe it or not I have a clear memory of my pre-school. My pre-school was a private school run but all nuns. Most people picture nuns to be mean but the ones that teach pre-school are the nicest ladies you have ever met. I think the reason I appreciate this so much is because this where my educational career began and it was such a good one. Not only was I having a great time at recess and nap time I was also getting a head start for kindergarten. I clearly remember when I had to start pre-school not wanting to go then after the first day I loved going everyday.

Follow Your Dreams

Word Count:404
My belief to always follow my dream was inspired from my brother. My brother became grateful for life at a young age. Faced with illness his whole childhood made him realize how short life is and to always follow your dreams. I didn’t come to appreciate this quality of my brother until I got older. When I was younger I always thought he was just trying to be different and didn’t really understand him. As I got older I realized he was simply just following his dreams not letting the opinions of other people effect what he wanted to do. From before I can remember my brother always wanted to be a marine biologist. As he got older and it became time for him to make a college decision it was an easy choice to go to school in Florida. Most people were telling him marine biology is not something you can make a career out of but he didn’t seem to care what they thought. Not only was he going to major in marine biology with not much support he also was going to a new state where he knew no one.
The reason I admire my brother so much is because I could never do what he did. I don’t think I would have had the courage at that young age to go to a state so far away with no friends. I have learned from my brother to not be afraid to take chances, follow my dreams and not worry about what other people think ,or what can go wrong. Half way through college he decided he wanted to be a writer and while at University Tampa he decided to major in both English and marine biology. During summers he was literally living the dream, spending his summer break sailing from Hawaii to California doing scientific research and one summer on a boat in Key West. After college he followed his dream of being writer which led him to graduate school at American University for English. This is just inspiration for me to follow my dreams even if its hard path. At times I feel like just taking the easy way and not going after my dreams because the path seems to hard. My brother has showed me that if you just take a chance and go after your dreams you have nothing to lose and might just live your dream.

The Connected Generation
Words:94
When I was trying to think of one word that best describes our generation connected stood out to me as the best fit. I chose the word connected simply because we are always connected whether it is on the internet from our homes, school, or work. We have become so obsessed with being connected that our cell phones have evolved into personal computers with internet capabilities. Our generation is obsessed with having the newest and best technology. This leads to corporations coming out with new products to keep our generation constantly and better connected.
