Who I am? What does America mean to me?

My name is Timothy Michael Anderson born on January 21, 1988. I am the son of Frank and Patricia Anderson and brother to Frank Anderson Jr. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland where my most of family lives to this day. I grew up playing many different sports but the sport that became my favorite is lacrosse. My junior year of high school I decided to sign with UMBC to play lacrosse, which brings me here today. When I first arrived at UMBC I wanted to be an Economics major, but I recently just declared as Sociology major. I am very grateful for all I have and the freedoms that come along with living in America. America is not perfect but what it means to me freedom. Sometimes we take our country for granted and don’t appreciate how good we have it. Even though this country is not perfect I am very proud to be an American.

I agree that we take our country for granted. I think that immigrants who come over to America take it as an opportunity to succeed while a lot of people that were born in America take opportunity for granted.

I agree completely with what you are saying. America is great country, but unfortunately some people take the advantages for granted.

I completely agree with your definition of America, especially the part about people taking for granted and not appreciating what being an American affords them. I think many Americans who take advantage of being American are not bad people, but just that they have lost perspective on the world and the disparities that exist in it.
